User Management


User Management settings allow you to establish default information for various functionalists in the application. It also gives the flexibility of customizing the application according to your individual need. User Management settings in the Parcel application allow you to define the following types of preferences:

  • User Levels

  • System Level Preferences

  • Account Level Preferences

  • User Level Preferences

User Levels

User levels can be set by the Parcel Administrator by assigning the appropriate Roles to users. The following are the default users in Parcel:

Enterprise

Enterprise Administrator. This user can setup locations and perform tasks in the Parcel Configuration/Web Admin tool, create application users and enterprise administrators, and carry out shipping and other related transactions. Use the "enterprise" user for most routine Parcel administration tasks.

Administrator

Highest level in the user hierarchy. The Administrator can create Enterprise Administrator and Application users. Use the "administrator" user when commissioning the Parcel system.

Application

Application User. Can carry out shipping and other related transactions.

Holdship



Default Ship-to-Hold user. When this type of user clicks SHIP on the Warehouse screen, the shipment automatically goes to Hold.

Note: You can configure these users but they cannot be deleted.

System Level Preferences

System level preferences are set at Parcel application installation time. Default values of these preferences reside inside the application database. There is no user interface for system level preferences in the Parcel application.
There are two types of System Level Preferences.

Edition

This setting is used to identify the edition of the Parcel Application. The values available are Business, Network, and Enterprise. The default value is Business.

Demo/Testing mode

This setting is used to identify whether the Parcel application can be used for Demo/ Testing purposes. The values available are Yes, and No. The Default value is No.

Account level Preferences

Account level preferences are specific to Carriers. The default value of every account level preference is set in the Carrier's database. The Account level administrator can make changes in Account level preferences, and click 'Update Shipper Defaults', to save the changes to the Shipper Defaults table, in the database provided by Parcel.

Margin

Depending on type, the value of margin can be taken as %( of total cost value) or fixed. Alternatively negative (-ve) can also be specified in this field.

Margin Type

User can specify the Margin type as either a percentage or a fixed value.

Apply Margin

If the Flag is checked the specified margin value is taken as default setting.

Hold for pickup

Used to define the preference for Hold for pickup.

Rate Type

User can specify the rate type as either 1st tariff or custom. Used by carrier compliance.

Disable Shipping Flag

Used to define the preference for allow / deny the shipping to customer. Used by carrier compliance.

Force cubing

Used to define the preference to Forces dimensional weight to be applied to each piece. Used by carrier compliance.

Heavy weight multi-piece exemption

Heavy weight multi piece exemption is used to Allows customers to enter a weight greater than 70 lbs when using the Multi piece option for total weight. Used by carrier compliance.

Forced Manifesting

Prevents a user from shipping if there are any open shipments for a previous day. If the shipper does not close a manifest for a previous day, the system will display an error message indicating the user needs to close a manifest and then proceed with shipping. Default is enabled. Used by carrier compliance.

User Level Preferences

User level preference settings allow you to establish default information for various functionalities in the application. These preferences are specific to individual users. Default preferences will be set in the Parcel application database at application installation. Default User level preferences are available in Parcel within Application Tab in My Profile. Besides these, you can also define the default Sender address the Sender tab in My Profile.

Shipment Type

You can define the preference for Shipment Type on the shipment screen. Values available are Prepaid, Collect, and Third Party. The default value is Prepaid.

Unit of Weight

Unit of Weight is used to define the preference for unit of weight on the shipment screen. The available values are Pounds and Kilograms. The default value is Pounds.

Unit of Measure

Unit of Measure is used to define the preference for unit of measuring dimensions (length, breadth, and height) of shipment packages on the shipment screen. Available values are Inches and Centimeters. The default value is Inches.

Country Code

Country code is used to define the preference for country, on the shipment screen. The list of countries of the world is available in the drop down list box. The default value selected is Canada.

Product

Product is used to define the preference for Product type.

Insurance Value

Insurance Value is used to define the insurance value for pieces of shipment. There is no default value for this field.
