Parcel Configuration (Web Admin) Tool
The Parcel Configuration (Web Admin) tool enables you to set up your locations and carriers for use in Parcel. You define default settings for each location. The default settings are used by the Parcel user interface and by direct API requests.
You can edit default data that appears in the Web Admin tool. Any changes you make in the Web Admin tool write directly to the MySQL database, so it is a good idea to back up the database before editing a lot of information in the tool.
The Web Admin tool is accessible from the following menu option: System > Settings > Location.
When you are done making any changes in the tool, you can refresh Parcel via the System > Refresh Application. Then also, log out of Parceland log back in.
Warning: When you
make most configuration changes using the Web Admin tool, Parcel automatically performs a system Refresh. Thus, you must exercise extreme caution when making configuration changes resulting in a system Refresh. Do not make configuration changes using the Web Admin tool during shipping. Make all configuration changes during off-hours when Parcel shipping functionality is not in use. This is because a system refresh locks down shipping. When you perform a manual refresh by selecting System > Refresh Application, Parcel displays a warning message. However, with automatic Refresh, no Warning message appears.
Notes:
-
Only users assigned the Application Administrator or Enterprise Administrator roles can add and configure locations.
-
To submit API requests for a specific carrier directly, you must first configure that carrier in Parcel using the Web Admin Tool.
-
Locations are also known as distribution centers (DCs for short). Hence the Web Admin tool is sometimes referred to as the "DC Config Tool."
