Populating Required Information
When you process a dangerous goods package in Parcel with DHL as the carrier, you can select the dangerous goods Hazmat Code from a drop-down list on the Item sub-tab of the Dangerous Goods tab on the
DHL Warehouse Options screen
. This list is populated from the Global Settings > Dangerous Goods Data table, which contains data about all of the hazardous materials that you ship. When you select the Hazmat Code for an item on the Item sub-tab, all of the data for that Item populates the Item sub-tab. This data is displayed in Web Admin under Global Settings and is editable. For example, you can add Emergency Contact information on an item-by-item basis. For more information, see the following Help topic: Carrier Compliance - Dangerous Goods (Hazmat).
See the following Help topics for information on processing various types of DHL dangerous goods shipments:
-
DHL – Processing U.S. International Dangerous Goods

In this field...
Do this...
Hazmat Package Type
From the drop-down list, select one of the following package types:
All Packed In One – If you are shipping multiple containers of commodities and the containers are not all individually labeled with full dangerous goods information. Additionally, all the containers are packed into one larger box or container bearing all the required dangerous goods labeling; for example: medical samples in pouches packaged in a box with dry ice.
Overpack – If you are shipping multiple containers of commodities, each container is labeled with the required dangerous goods information, and the containers are all correctly packed into another larger box or container; for example: multiple cylinders of the same substance are packed into a larger crate or box.
Outer Packing Type
Outer Packing Type is not required for DHL because DHL does not allow multi-package shipments of dangerous goods. (This field is grayed out.)
Outer Packing Count
Outer Packing Count is not required for DHL because DHL does not allow multi-package shipments of dangerous goods. (This field is grayed out.)
Q-Value
If the outer package contains more than one UN number (more than one type of commodity is in the package), the Q-value is required. Parcel automatically calculates the Q-value, which is based on the maximum quantity of the commodity that is allowed to be shipped (Maximum Quantity field on the Items sub-tab). If the outer package contains only one UN number (the same commodity), then the Q-value is not required.
-
At the top of the page, click Item.
-
From the Hazmat Code drop-down list, select the Hazmat Code for the Item you are shipping. Note: This list is populated from the Global Settings - Dangerous Goods Data table.
After you select a Hazmat Code from the list, the data from the Parcel Web Admin Dangerous Goods Data table for that item type populates the Item sub-tab. You must enter the Units and Quantity manually. The following table below provides a description for each field: If the hazardous material that you selected in the Hazmat Code list is radioactive (all radioactive materials are Class 7), most of the radioactive data will be populated in the Radioactive page

If you are shipping multiple containers of the same commodity in one larger box or (as in an overpack or 'all packed in one' package), type the amount that is in only one of the containers (not the total amount in the whole package). In the Packing Qty field, you will type the number of identical containers that are in the overpack or 'all packed in one' box.Units
