Account Numbers and Services

When you add a new DHL carrier account, the page to enter the DHL account numbers for the various DHL services appears. On this page, you also select the DHL services with which you will ship packages from this location.


To configure DHL account numbers and services, complete these steps

  1. From the Carrier drop-down list, select DHL.

  2. In Unit ID field, type the five-digit Unit ID that DHL assigned to you for use at this location.

  3. In the Account Number field, type the nine-digit account number for this DHL account.

  4. In the Carrier Code field, type a name for the carrier as you want it to appear in the Configuration Tool (Web Admin) tree in the left panel and in the Parcel shipping application. For example, if you are setting up more than one DHL account for this location, you might want to assign carrier codes such as DHL-1, DHL-2, etc.

  5. In the Services section, select the services to ship DHL packages from this location, and then click ADD to move them from the left-hand column to the right-hand column. To add all of the services at once, click ADD ALL.
    You can also use the up and down arrow buttons to change the order of the services in the list, or select a service and click REMOVE to remove it from the list.

    Express letter delivery to international destinations in 220 countries and territories.

    Intl. Document

    Express delivery of any document to international destinations in 220 countries and territories.

    Worldwide Priority Express

    Guaranteed US and International express delivery within 2 to 7 business days.

  6. When you are done configuring this page, click ADD in the lower-right corner of the page to save the settings. Otherwise, click CANCEL to cancel the settings.

Configuring Time in Transit Calculation with DHL
In addition to the previously listed screens, if you enable time in transit calculation on the Shipper Defaults > Time in Transit tab , the following additional screens are available for importing and editing time in transit data:

  • Holidays

  • Import Time in Transit Files

Accessorials (Domestic)

After you add DHL as a carrier, the fields on the Domestic Accessorials screen are populated with the default values listed in the following tables. If you need to update domestic accessorials (Special Services) for DHL, use this screen to change the values in these fields.


Oversize 1 section

Length+Girth Min

The minimum length plus girth in inches for a package to qualify as Oversize1. The minimum is currently 84, so the default value for this field is 84.

Length+Girth Max

The maximum length plus girth in inches for a package to qualify as Oversize1. The maximum is currently 108, so the default value for this field is 180.

Weight

The weight at and over which a package is disqualified as Oversize1. Currently, for Oversize1, a package must weight less than 30 lbs, so the default value for this field is 30.

Billable Weight

Type the weight an Oversize1 package is billed at regardless of its actual weight. Currently, Oversize1 packages are charged at the 30-lb rate, so the default value for this field is 30.

Oversize 2 section

Length+Girth Min

The minimum length plus girth in inches for a package to qualify as Oversize2. The minimum is currently 108, so the default value for this field is 108.

Length+Girth Max

The maximum length plus girth in inches for a package to qualify as Oversize2. The maximum is currently 130, so the default value for this field is 130.

Weight

The weight at and over which a package is disqualified as Oversize2. Currently, for Oversize2, a package must weight less than 70 lbs, so the default value for this field is 70.

Billable Weight

Type the weight an Oversize2 package is billed at regardless of its actual weight. Currently, Oversize2 packages are charged at the 70-lb rate, so the default value for this field is 70.

Oversize 3 section

Length+Girth Min

The minimum length plus girth in inches for a package to qualify as Oversize3. The minimum is currently 130, so the default value for this field is 130.

Length+Girth Max

The maximum length plus girth in inches for a package to qualify as Oversize3. The maximum is currently 165, so the default value for this field is 165.

Weight

The weight at and over which a package is disqualified as Oversize3. Currently, for Oversize3, a package must weight less than 90 lbs, so the default value for this field is 90.

Billable Weight

Type the weight an Oversize3 package is billed at regardless of its actual weight. Currently, Oversize3 packages are charged at the 90-lb rate, so the default value for this field is 90.

DHL Ground Excess Surcharge Limits section

Primary Length (inches)

The surcharge for DHL Ground packages with a primary length exceeding 60 inches, so the default value for this field is 60.

Secondary Length (inches)

The surcharge for DHL Ground packages with a secondary length exceeding 30 inches, so the default value for this field is 30.

Package Length (inches)

The surcharge for DHL Ground packages with a length exceeding 108 inches, so the default value for this field is 108.

Package Length + Girth (inches)

The surcharge for DHL Ground packages with a length plus girth exceeding 165 inches , so the default value for this field is 165.

Weight (lbs)

The surcharge for DHL Ground packages weighing greater than 150 pounds, so the default value for this field is 150.


Click SAVE in the lower-right corner of the screen to save any changes you made or click CANCEL to revert to previous values.

Shipper Defaults

Overview

Use the following tabs on the DHL Shipper Defaults page to configure the default information to use with this DHL account.

Address Tab

Use the Address tab on the DHL Shipper Defaults page to enter the default "Ship From" or 'distribution center' address for this DHL account.

ID

Type the ID for this "Ship From" address.

Name

Type the name for the "Ship From" address.

Name Ext

Type the extension name for the "Ship From" address.

Address 1

Type the "Ship From" street address.

Address 2

Type any additional street address information for the "Ship From" address such as suite or floor.

Address 3

Type any additional street address information for the "Ship From" address such as suite or floor.

Class Code

From the drop-list, select the code that describes this "Ship From" address: Business or Residential.

City

Type the "Ship From" city.

State/Province

Type the "Ship From" state or province.

Zip

Type the "Ship From" ZIP Code or postal code.

Country

Type the "Ship From" country name.

Country Code

Type the "Ship From" country code.

E-mail

Type the "Ship From" e-mail address.

Fax

Type the "Ship From" fax number.

Phone

Type the "Ship From" phone number.

Phone Ext

Type the phone number extension for the contact person at the "Ship From" address.

GMT Offset

Accept the default or type the offset from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT – now commonly referred to as Universal Time or UT) for the Ship From address in the format GMT+HH:MM or GMT-HH:MM. For example, the default is Eastern Standard Time (EST), which is offset from GMT by minus 5 hours, so this is rendered as GMT-05:00.

Click SAVE in the lower-right corner of the screen to save any changes you made or click CANCEL to revert to previous values.

Defaults Tab

Use the Defaults tab on the DHL Shipper Defaults page to enter default values for use with this DHL account.
Unless otherwise noted, all settings apply only to this DHL account at this location.

Top section

Rate Currency

Type the default three-character rate currency code to use for shipments from this DHL account.

Dimensions UOM

Type the default unit of measure abbreviation to use for shipments from this DHL account.

  • IN – Inches

  • CM – Centimeters

Ground Sat Pickup

To allow Saturday Pickup Special Service with Ground packages, select this check box.

Intl Sat Delivery

To allow Saturday Delivery Special Service with international shipments, select this check box.

PSHP/CSHP Automatic Saturday Pickup

To automatically set the Saturday Pickup flag when performing PSHP and CSHP transactions, select (check) this check box.
Note: By default, this check box is not selected.

Allow Media Mail for BMC Locations

To allow @Home Media Mail services for Network Distribution Center (NDC – formerly BMC ) locations, select this check box.

Origin Group SAC

Nothing. This field is automatically populated when you perform the DHL file imports and is based upon your origin ZIP Code. You cannot edit this field.
You import the DHL files by using the Rate Update command in the Scheduler in the Parcel shipping application.

Origin SAC

Nothing. This field is automatically populated when you perform the DHL file imports and is based upon your origin ZIP Code. You cannot edit this field.

Printer Name

Type the name of the printer that you will use to print DHL shipping labels.
The printer settings in the Printer Map screen for the location override this setting.

Printer Type

Type the printer type used to print DHL shipping labels. For example, thermal or inkjet.

Zebra Print Speed

Accept the default (8) or set the print speed for labels printed with a Zebra printer. Valid values (from the Zebra Printing Language manual) are as follows:

  • A or 2 – 2 in./sec.

  • B or 3 – 3 in./sec.

  • C or 4 – 4 in./sec.

  • 5 – 5 in./sec.

  • D or 6 – 6 in./sec.

  • E or 8 – 8 in./sec.

Shipper 22 CFR

Type the Shipper 22 CFR. This is required for international shipments.

Export Control Classification No.

Type the default ECCN (Export Control Classification Number) to use for this DHL account.
If you ship commodities that require a license to export and your company does not have an export license, you must use a license exception general symbol to ship those commodities. When you use a license exception general symbol, you must supply the ECCN (Export Control Classification Number) for the commodity. ECCN is an alpha-numeric code, e.g., 3A001, that describes a particular item or type of item, and shows the controls placed on that item. All ECCNs are listed in the Commerce Control List (CCL) (Supplement No. 1 to Part 774 of the EAR) which is available on the Government Printing Office Web site. The CCL is divided into ten broad categories, and each category is further subdivided into five product groups. The CCL is available on the Export Administration Regulations Database Web site: http://www.access.gpo.gov/bis/ear/ear_data.html

Shipper's EIN/SSN or VAT Number

Type the shipper's Employer Identification Number (EIN), Social Security Number (SSN), or Value Added Tax Number (VAT Number).

Export License

Type the shipper's export license number.
An export license number is required if you ship commodities that are licensable under the Department of Commerce. Most Department of Commerce licenses begin with the letter D and are followed by six digits.

FTSR Exemption ID

Type the shipper's FTSR (Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations) exemption ID. The FTSR exemption ID exempts the shipper from having to file an SED for shipments that require an SED. The FTSR exemption ID cannot be 39.
From the US Census Bureau FTSR Web site http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/regulations/ftsrletters/ftsr168.html :
Whenever an exemption from the requirement for filing a SED is provided in the Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations (FTSR), 15 CFR Part 30, a notation, or exemption statement, describing the basis for the exemption shall be made on the first page of the bill of lading, air waybill, other loading document for carrier use, or the carrier outbound manifest. The exemption citation must reference the number of the section or provision in the FTSR where the particular exemption is provided so that the carrier at the time of lading, and the Customs Port Director at the time of exportation may verify that no declaration is required.

XTN

Type the external transaction number (XTN) used to identify the SED before filing the SED or while waiting for confirmation that the SED was filed successfully with AESDirect.


Shipment Value Protection section

Minimum Value

Type the minimum value of Shipment Value Protection which needs center manager approval. The default is $50,000.

Maximum Value

Type the maximum value of Shipment Value Protection which needs center manager approval. Values greater than this will required risk manager approval. The default is $100,000.


Bottom section

Template Dir

Type the path to the templates folder where the Parcel DHL templates reside.

Weight UOM

From the drop-down list, select the unit of measure to use for the weight of DHL packages:

  • Pounds

  • Kilograms

ZIP Significant Character

Type the significant character for the "Ship From" ZIP Code. This number represents the number of characters in the postal code. For example, for "Ship From" ZIP Codes in the United States, it is 5.

Customer Charge

Type the default customer charge amount.

Customer Charge Type

From the drop-down list, select Fixed or Percentage.

Click SAVE in the lower-right corner of the screen to save any changes you made or click CANCEL to revert to previous values.

System Tab

Use the System tab on the DHL Shipper Defaults page to enter the default system information for this DHL account.

Allow Alternate Return Label Text

To print If Undeliverable, use Alt Return on the label when USPS Return Service Requested Special Service is used, select this check box.
To print If Undeliverable, check SADI/ADS for return on the label when USPS Return Service Requested Special Service is used, clear this check box.

DHL DC

Type the name of your distribution center (DC) that will ship DHL packages.

Allow Delivery Duty Paid

Select this check box if this DHL account can ship packages using Delivery Duty Paid billing.

Allow Neutral Delivery Service

Select this check box if this DHL account is approved to use Neutral Delivery Service.

License Exempt Symbol

Type the default license exception symbol to use for international shipments containing commodities that require an export license to export.
If your company (the shipper) has an export license, you do not need to use a license exception symbol.
If your company does not have an export license, a license exception symbol is required for shipments containing commodities that are licensable under the Department of Commerce. The license exception general symbols are published in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) established by the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security.

Allow Return Service

Select this check box if this DHL account is approved to use Returns Service.
With Returns Service, if DHL cannot delivery a non-@Home shipment, they will return it to your alternate return address.

Return Service Customer Account No.

If this DHL account is approved to use Returns Service, type the nine-digit DHL Returns Service account number.

Risk Management Approval

Select this check box if this DHL account has received risk management approval.
If the Declared Value for Shipment Value Protection is greater than $100,000 is approved, select this check box. Otherwise, clear this check box.

Service Center Manager Approval

Select this check box if this DHL account has received Service Center Manager Approval.
If the Declared Value for Shipment Value Protection is greater than $50,000 and less than or equal to $100,000 is approved, select this check box. Otherwise, clear this check box.

Account Type

Type the shipper account type. This is provided by DHL.

Valid Service Code

Type the value that corresponds to the type of DHL services that this account is being used for as follows:

  • DOMINTL - for non-@Home domestic and international services.

  • HOME - for @Home services without Delivery Confirmation.

  • 10|11 - for regular @Home services with Delivery Confirmation.

  • 12|13 - for Media Mail @Home services with Delivery Confirmation.

  • 14|15 - for Bound Printed Matter @Home services with Delivery Confirmation.
    Note: See the DHL Web site for a full description of these service codes.

Click SAVE in the lower-right corner of the screen to save any changes you made or click CANCEL to revert to previous values.

Time in Transit Tab

Use the Time In Transit tab on the DHL Shipper Defaults page to enter settings related to time-in-transit for this DHL account.

Calculate Transit Time

To specify calculation of transit times, select (check) this check box. Parcel uses the data that you import using the Import Time in Transit Files screen for transit time calculations.
Note: This check box is unselected by default.

Click SAVE in the lower-right corner of the screen to save any changes you made or click CANCEL to cancel changes and revert to original values.

Unit ID

Overview

Use the following tabs on the DHL Unit ID page to configure the Unit ID information for this DHL account.

Defaults Tab

To configure the Unit ID Defaults tab for DHL, complete the following boxes:

Purge Days

Type the number of days that must pass before the purging utility script is executed to purge records.

Temp Path

Type the path to the temporary folder used by the rate update request (RUPD) to extract zip files.

Inbound Path

Type the path to the FromDHL folder. The FromDHL folder is the folder where Cyclone Activator posts files such as updated routing files. This path must match the path set in Cyclone Activator.

Consolidation

Select this check box if this DHL account performs consolidation. Consolidation offers discounted rates for high-volume shipments.

GMT Offset

Type the number of hours away from Greenwich Mean Time that describes the time zone in which the Ship From location for this DHL account resides.

Future Ship Limit

Type the number of days into the future that you want to allow DHL shipments to be made. For example, if you want to be able to process a package today for pickup by DHL in 3 days, type 3 if that is the maximum number of days into the future that you want to allow shipments to be made with this DHL account.

Click SAVE in the lower-right corner of the screen to save any changes you made or click CANCEL to revert to previous values.

System Tab

To configure the Unit ID System tab for DHL, complete the following boxes:
Top section

OS Product Name

Type the name of your operating system. For example, Windows 2000.

OS Company Name

Type the company name of the operating system. For example, Microsoft.

OS Company Code

Type the code for the OS Company Name. For example, MS for Microsoft.

OS Version

Type the version of the operating system. For example, 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4, Build 2195.

HW Free Disk

Type the amount of free disc space currently available on the hard drive.

HW Memory

Type the amount of free memory currently available on your system.

HW Model

Type the model number of the computer. For example, KM400-8235

HW CPU

Type the speed of the Central Processing Unit (CPU) that is one the server running Parcel. For example, 1 GHz.

HW Vendor Name

Type the vendor name of the computer. For example, IBM.

Global Mail Item Count

Type the maximum number of items that can be placed in a DHL Global Mail sack.

Max Declared Value for Canada Shipments

Type the maximum declared value amount that can be used for DHL shipments to Canada.

T.C.S.C. Account Number

Type the Transport Collect Shipper Controlled (T.C.S.C.) account number.

DHL Waybill Server

Type the address of the DHL waybill server. The waybill server provides the waybill number range. For example, dhlconnect.dhl-usa.com.


ESM File section

Minimum Sequence No.

Type the minimum sequence number for the DHL ESM file. For example, 1.

Maximum Sequence No.

Type the maximum sequence number for the DHL ESM file. For example, 999999.

Output Path

Type the path to the ToDHL folder. The ToDHL folder is the location where Cyclone Activator looks for ESM files to upload to DHL.

Extension

Type the default extension for DHL ESM files. For example, .ESM.

File Path

Type the path to the folder where Parcel stores DHL ESM files.

Click SAVE in the lower-right corner of the screen to save any changes you made or click CANCEL to revert to previous values.

Tracking Tab

To configure the Unit ID Tracking tab for DHL, complete the following boxes:
Top section

Waybill Qty

Type the number of tracking numbers to retrieve from the DHL server for use with waybills.

Client Type

From the drop-down list, select the client type:

  • Testing

  • Production


Waybill Warning Messages section

Minimum Expiry Days

Type the minimum number of days before the expiration date of the domestic waybill tracking number range to display the warning about the expiration date.

Minimum International Qty

Type the minimum quantity of international waybill numbers less than which, a warning message will be displayed. In other words, if the generated international waybill number from the current range of international waybill numbers is less than the minimum quantity specified here and the future range is not available, then a warning message appears.

Minimum Domestic Qty

Type the minimum quantity of domestic waybill numbers less than which, a warning message will be displayed. In other words, if the generated domestic waybill number from the current range of domestic waybill numbers is less than the minimum quantity specified here and the future range is not available, then a warning message appears.

Waybill Fix Digit

The fixed digit that is appended to the end of the domestic waybill number to make it 11 digits long.


Domestic Waybill Future Range section

Expiry Date

Type the expiration date of the domestic waybill number range. Use the format yyyymmdd.

Start

Type the first waybill number of the current domestic waybill number range.

End

Type the last waybill number of the current domestic waybill number range.


International Waybill Future Range section (this section also includes tracking information)

Expiry Date

Type the expiration date of the international waybill number range. Use the format yyyymmdd.

Start

Type the first waybill number of the current international waybill number range.

End

Type the last waybill number of the current international waybill number range.

Requestor ID

Type your ID for requesting additional waybill number ranges.

Requestor Password

Type your password for requesting additional waybill number ranges.

Track URL

Type the URL DHL uses to provide tracking results.

Track Page

Type the file name of the page DHL uses to display tracking results.


License Plate Number section

Expiry Date

Type the expiration date of the Licence Plate Number range using the following format: yyyymmdd.

Starting Number

Type the starting number of the License Plate Number range; for example: 000001

Ending Number

Type the ending number of the License Plate Number range; for example: 999999

Issuing Agency Code

Type the code for the License Plate Number issuing agency; for example: JD00

Sub-issuing Agency

Type the code for the License Plate Number sub-issuing agency (if any) or accept the default: 000

License Plate no. Rollback

Type "Y" (without quotation marks) if you want to recycle this License Plate Number range; type "N" if you do not want to recycle it. The default value for this field is "Y".
