This topic describes the following aspects of Parcel:

Supported Web browsers

The Parcel client is a browser-based Web application. Currently, Parcel supports only Internet Explorer (IE) as a Web browser.

Logging in to the Parcel for the first time

Note: The following procedure for initial login assumes that you are logging in with Administrator privileges using the login information that has been set up for this user on your system. For more information on user types, roles, and groups, see the topic User Management.

After your Parcel system is installed and configured, to log in to Parcel for the first time:

1.Start your Internet browser.

2.Go to the Parcel Login page.

3.On the Login page, type your user name and password (and role if required). The password is case sensitive, is a minimum of six characters and a maximum of 32 characters. Your password is established in your profile. For the initial login, the administrator user is provided in advance with a user name and password.

Note: If your Parcel user interface is configured with an LDAP server, you must also supply the domain controller in addition to the user name and password.

4.In the Language field, select a language from the drop-down list (English and Canadian French are the options) or accept the default value of "English".

5.Click the [LOG IN].

If the application could not authenticate your credentials, an error appears and does not specify whether the user name, password, or role is invalid. Contact your application administrator for assistance.

6. The first time you successfully log in to Parcel, a popup message may display stating that your current settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page.

Note: If this is the case, you need to enable ActiveX in your IE browser. For more information on this, see the topic Enabling ActiveX for Parcel.

7. On first login, the Registration screen is displayed. Before accessing the other screens, you must first register your Parcel installation.

8. Enter the required information in the Registration fields. For more information on these, see the topic Registration.

9. The home page as configured in your preferences appears. The default home page is the Welcome page.

10. After you configure your Home page, you can return to it from within the application at any time by clicking the Home like at the upper right.

Logging out of Parcel:

1.Click the Log out link at the upper right. The Login screen is displayed.

2.To log back in, enter your User Name and Password, and then click [LOG IN].

Subsequent logins

After your initial login and logout, follow the procedure for initial login. The differences are that, after you have enabled ActiveX for your browser, the popup warning for this is no longer displayed and the Home page is displayed after login.

In addition, the set of menus displayed on the menu bar depends on the user type logging in and on what modules have been assigned to that user. For example, an administrator user sees the System menu and an application user does not. For more information on user levels, see the following Help topic: User Management.

Navigating to the Shipping Application

You can access the Shipping application directly from the Parcel Login screen after logging in. To navigate easily to this screen, carry out either of the following steps:

Set the Parcel Login screen as yours browser's default Home page.

Add the Parcel Login page to your list of favorite sites.

About the Home Page

Your application home page is the first page you see after you log in. The first time you log in the Welcome page is displayed. You can configure the Welcome page to display updates and other customized information. See the following Help topic: System > Other - Overview.

You can also change your default Home page. See the following Help topic: Profile Settings - Application Tab.
