Generic Carrier - Processing Hazardous Materials |

To process a hazardous materials shipment with the Generic carrier module, follow these steps:
1.Complete the required information on the Warehouse screen for a domestic package. Select the generic carrier you want to use in the Carrier list. Select Generic Service in the Service list.
2.Click [OPTIONS].
3.Click the Hazmat tab.
4.Complete the fields on the screen as follows:

Shipping Name |
Type the correct Shipping Name of the commodity from the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation Manual. |
Technical Name |
Type the technical name for all commodities whose proper shipping name ends in "n.o.s." ("not otherwise specified"). The technical name is a more detailed description of the commodity. |
Class Div # |
Type the category of the commodity as defined in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation Manual. |
ADR Item # |
Type the ADR Item number for intra-European Union dangerous goods shipments. |
Subrisk Class |
Type the category of subsidiary risks assigned to this commodity. Some hazardous materials have properties that meet more than one hazardous class. The less serious property is referred to as the subsidiary risk. |
Reportable Quantity |
For packages moving in or out of the United States, type the number of commodity that must be reported to the appropriate government agency in the case of a spillage. Refer to 49 CFR for a table of reportable quantities. |
Pkg Group/Type # |
Type the packing group assigned to this commodity by the United Nations. |
Quantity |
Type the amount of the commodity that you are shipping in a single container (based on the unit of measure you will select in the Units list). |
Units |
Enter the unit of measure that the commodity is measured in. This should match the units listed in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation Manual. The acceptable units of measure are as follows: •Grams - For solids •Kilograms - For solids •Kilograms Gross - Gross total package weight in kilograms instead of the net weight of only the commodity in kilograms. •Liters - For liquids |
Emergency Contact Name |
Type the contact in case of emergency. This is required. |
Emergency Phone # |
Type the phone number of the contact in case of emergency. This is required. |
Additional Info |
Type any additional information that might apply to the shipment. Refer to 49 CFR. |
Transportation Mode |
Type one of the following values for the transportation mode that will be used for this shipment: •Air •Ground |
IDG Identification # |
Type the International Dangerous Goods (IDG) identification number assigned to this commodity. |
Declaration Type |
From the drop-down list, select one of the following declaration types: •Dangerous Goods (Fully Regulated) •Dangerous Goods (Limited Quantity) |
5.Click [DONE] to return to the Warehouse page. On the Warehouse page, click [ADD] to add the package to the shipment, then click [SHIP] to ship it.
6.After the package ships successfully, a popup window listing the documents to print appears. Select the Bill of Lading (BOL). Then click [Print]. If the form appears on the screen, select File > Print to print it.
