This topic and related Help topics provide details on how to process a hazardous materials or dangerous goods package using the Generic carrier module in Parcel. Parcel does not validate the data you enter while processing a hazardous materials or dangerous goods package.
Before you attempt to process a hazardous materials or dangerous goods package in Parcel, you need to familiarize yourself with the rules of the carrier you are using through the Generic carrier module (these could include service and destination restrictions among other rules).
For a general overview of shipping dangerous goods/hazardous materials using Parcel, see the following Help topic: Carrier Compliance - Dangerous Goods (Hazmat).
Federal law requires that you receive training and certification from the U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T) before shipping dangerous goods or hazardous materials with any carrier. For information about certification, visit http://hazmat.dot.gov.
If you are not sure whether the commodity you are shipping is classified as a hazardous material or dangerous good or which classification applies to the commodity, contact the D.O.T. at 1-800-467-4922.
For the latest list of dangerous goods, refer to www.iata.org.
Note: You should ensure that you are always using the most recent version of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation Manual.
