Process a Batch Shipment

Scroll

Batch processing involves creation of actual shipments from the template shipments within the batch. Shipments are processed in the order in which they are added in the batch. Corresponding labels are generated on completion of an individual shipment processing. You can set the time-out duration for individual shipment processing in a Batch in Shipment time out period (sec) field on the Application tab.

Warning: When you carry out the following procedure, menus remain active during this process. However, do not attempt to select any other options from the menus until Parcel has finished processing the batch shipment.

To process a Batch Shipment, follow the steps given below:

1.Click the Ship menu and select From Batch.

2.In the From Batch - Search or Add a Batch window, perform a search on the existing batch shipments.

3.In the Search Results window, select the radio button next to the Batch Shipment which you want to process, and then do one of the following:

a.Optionally, click [SHIP] to ship the batch directly from this screen.

Note: Clicking [SHIP] on this screen processes all shipments in the selected batch. If you wish to process only selected shipments within the batch, see step c below.

b.Optionally, click [ADD] to Add a batch to the list of batches; on the Add Batch screen.

c.Optionally, click [EDIT] to display the list of shipments that are part of the selected Batch Shipment.

Note: You can also use this screen to select the check boxes next to the shipments that you want to process, and then click [SHIP] to ship only those selected shipments in the batch.

d.Optionally, click [DELETE] to delete the selected batch or click [CANCEL] to return to the Search or Add a Batch screen.

Parcel displays a progress bar that lets you track how many shipments in the batch have been processed. When processing is complete, Parcel displays a results window indicating the count of successful and failed shipments, as well as basic information for each shipment in the batch.

4.Use the check boxes and buttons at the bottom of the Results window as follows:

To put the Batch Shipment on Hold: This pop-up window prompts you to choose whether you want to add the failed shipments ‘To Hold’. Make the appropriate selections based on your requirements. Such a shipment can then be opened and shipped later on. Refer to topic Release a Shipment From Hold for steps to follow to release a shipment that is put 'On Hold'.

To print Customs Documentation for International Batch shipments:  This popup displays a list of customs documents to be printed for international batch shipments. Refer to the topic Print International Documents for steps to follow to print customs documents.

Note: If Parcel is configured to do so, when you close the results window, it displays the label for each successful shipment.

Including Group shipments in a Batch shipment

You can include a Group shipment in a Batch shipment. After you create a Group shipment, add it to the Batch where you want to include it in the same way you add any shipment to a Batch.

Processing a Group Shipment

Add Shipments to a Batch

Note that after you add a Group shipment to a Batch, and then process the Batch:

1.When you select Ship > From Batch, and then display the Batch on the Search Results screen, each address in the Group is listed separately. For example, if you have three shipments in a Group shipment, and then add this Group to a Batch to make a total of five shipments, the Search Results screen for this Batch displays a list of eight separate shipments.

2.When you process the Batch, the Progress Bar displays each Group shipment in the Batch as a single shipment. For example, if you have five shipments (including one Group shipment) in the Batch that you are processing, and the Group shipment is the first shipment processed, the Progress Bar displays "1 of 5" when the Group shipment is processed.
