Release a Shipment From Hold

Scroll

After you process a shipment to Hold, and you are ready to actually ship it (commit it the System of Record database, print the shipping label and other documentation, and stage it for carrier pickup), you need to release the shipment from Hold.

To release a shipment from Hold...

1.Click the Ship menu and select From Hold.

2.In the From Hold - Find a Hold Shipment section, enter some criteria by which to search for shipments that were processed to Hold.

Use this box...

To do this...

Shipment Number

Find a specific shipment. If you have the shipment number that Parcel assigned to the shipment when it was processed to Hold, type that number.

Carrier

Search for shipments processed with a certain carrier. From the list, select the carrier that was used to process the shipment to Hold.

From Date / To Date

To display shipments that were processed to Hold within a specific time frame, type the date range or use the calendar to select the dates.

Where / Equals

To find shipments based on a specific piece of information.

In the Where list, select the data type, then type the corresponding information about the shipment you want to find in the Equals box.

For example, to search for a shipment for a specific customer, select 'Ship To' in the Where list, then type the customer's name or customer ID in the Equals box.

Location

Select the DC location.

Source

Search the shipments that are On Hold based on different sources of origin. The available sources are: Warehouse, Connect, Group, Batch, Failed Group, Failed Batch.

3.Click [SEARCH] to search for shipments that match the information you entered. If no shipments that match the information can be found, a message is displayed at the top of the page. Otherwise, the matching shipments appear in the Search Results section in the lower part of the page.

Note: The number of records that appear in the first window is a setting in your profile.

- or -

Click [CLEAR] to clear the boxes to begin a new search.

4.In the Search Results section, locate the shipment you want to release from Hold:

You can sort the results by clicking the column labels.

If there are more results than can fit on the page, use the right arrow to view the next pages. Then use the left arrow to go back to the previous pages.

5.Once you have located the shipment you want to release from Hold, select the radio button in the far-left column of the shipment, then click [EDIT SHIPMENT].

6.The shipment information is populated on the Warehouse page. You can edit the information if necessary. When you are done editing the shipment, click [SHIP]. This commits the shipment to the System of Record database and prints the shipping label and other documentation for the shipment.

Note: Carrier Packaging Type is associated with a specific Parcel. When you retrieve a shipment from Hold, to display the correct Carrier Packaging Type for that parcel, you need to select the parcel from the list, and then click [EDIT]. This action displays the Carrier Packaging Type you selected earlier for this parcel before performing the Ship to Hold.

Default values with From Hold processing

When performing a From Hold operation, Parcel populates any blank fields with their default information in the following preferential order:

1.Non-blank, user-entered information at ship time.

2.User Profile Defaults.

3.Carrier Shipper Defaults Address tab.

4.Location Defaults.

You need to take this protocol into account if you change any information when performing a From Hold operation.

For example, if the following is the default information for Sender (Shipper):

Shipper Defaults Address tab, Address 1: 1 Main St.

Shipper Defaults Address tab, Address 2: Bldg. 1

Shipper Defaults Address tab, Address 3: 1 Main St.

And the user enters the following information when shipping To Hold and From Hold:

(Sender) Address 1: 212 Faraway Rd.

The fields on the From Hold shipment are populated as follows:

 Address 1: 212 Faraway Rd.

 Address 2: Bldg. 1

 Address 3: 1 Main St.

As an additional example, suppose you are using the Shipper Defaults information for Sender and populate all three address fields for a Sender location in Shipper Defaults. When performing a From Hold operation, if you change this information so that the third address field is blank, Parcel populates this field with the default value entered in Shipper Defaults.
