UPS - Accessorials (International)

To configure international accessorials (Special Services) for UPS, complete the following boxes.

Note: When you add a UPS carrier to a US location, Parcel automatically populates all the fields on this screen with the current UPS rates for these surcharges with the exception of the OS3 Charge. (See the description for this field in the following table.) For all other fields, you can change the amount of the surcharge or accept the default. Amounts are in US Dollars without the currency sign to four significant decimal places (non-significant zeros omitted after the decimal point).

General

Saturday Delivery

The surcharge for Saturday Delivery service.

Additional Handling

The surcharge for Additional Handling service.

Additional Handling exceeding 70 Pounds

The Additional Handling surcharge for any U.S. International package exceeding 70 pounds in actual weight.

Fuel Surcharge

The fuel surcharge percentage for international services.

For example, if it is 9.5%, type 9.50.

Express Plus Surcharge

The surcharge for Worldwide Express Plus service.

Cert. of Origin Charge

The charge to have UPS prepare the Certificate of Origin for the shipper.

SED Charge

The charge to have UPS prepare and file the Shipper's Export Declaration (SED) for the shipper.

Bill Duty Charge

The charge to bill the duty charges to a third party.

Delivery Duty VAT

The charge to bill delivery duty and value added tax (VAT) charges to a third party.

Shipment Insurance

The percentage of the ship charge to use to calculate the insurance charge.

UPS Proactive Response®

The Proactive Response surcharge.

Proactive Response is a contract service - provides 24x7 monitoring of Next Day Air service and Worldwide Express service packages and letters throughout the UPS system. Any deviation in their normal handling will be identified as 'at risk'. Once a package is identified as being 'at risk', a UPS Customer Service Representative will investigate and attempt to resolve any service issues.

After your contract to use Proactive Response is activated, you must select the Proactive Response check box (account default key) in the Configuration tool ( Shipper Defaults > Defaults page).

Large package surcharge

The surcharge for large packages that do not exceed the UPS maximum size.

Excess Insurance

Rate

The percentage of the shipping charge that is charged for Excess Insurance.

For example, if the rate is 20%, type 0.20.

Minimum Charge

The surcharge for Insurance coverage over the amount that UPS provides for free (currently, UPS insures the first $100 in value for free) or that incurs a flat fee.

$100 to $300 in value incurs a flat fee of $1.50 (currently) to insure.

$300.01 to the maximum of $50,000 in value currently costs $0.50 per $100 in value to insure.

Extended Area Surcharge

Value

The surcharge for delivery outside the normal delivery area when using international Worldwide Express or Expedited service.

Rate

The percentage of the shipping charge that is charged for delivery outside the normal delivery area when using international Worldwide Express or Expedited service.

Signature

The surcharge for automatic delivery confirmation with a printed copy of the recipient's digital signature.

Adult Signature

The surcharge for automatic delivery confirmation with a printed copy of the adult recipient's digital signature.

The adult must be the minimum age for the country in which the package is being delivered (21 in the US, 18 in Canada).

Direct Delivery Only Surcharge

The surcharge for Direct Delivery Only Option.

Dry Ice

The dry ice charge.

UPS Returns®

In this box...

1 Attempt

The surcharge for UPS Returns Plus - 1 Pickup Attempt.

UPS makes one attempt to pick up the package from the consignee. If the package cannot be picked up on the first attempt, the driver leaves the label at the pickup location. The consignee then applies the label to the package and drops it off at a UPS Customer Center, Daily Pickup Location, shipping outlet, or gives it to a UPS driver.

3 Attempts

The surcharge for UPS Returns Plus - 3 Pickup Attempts.

UPS makes three attempts to pick up the package from the consignee. If the package cannot be picked up on the third attempt, the driver returns the label to UPS.

Mail

The surcharge for UPS Returns - Print & Mail.

Upon the shipper’s request, UPS prints the label and mails it to the customer. The customer applies the label to the package and drops it off at any UPS location or requests a pickup from UPS.

Print

The surcharge for UPS Returns - Print Label.

The shipper prints the label for the return of the package. You can include the label with the original shipment (if you anticipate that the customer may need to return it) or mail it to the customer after the customer requests the return. The customer applies the label to the package and drops it off at any UPS location or requests a pickup from UPS.

Electronic

The surcharge for UPS Returns - Electronic Return Label.

UPS sends an e-mail to the customer which contains an Internet link to the return label. The customer clicks the link in the e-mail to print the label. The customer applies the label to the package and drops it off at any UPS location or requests a pickup from UPS.

The surcharge for handling an oversize pallet.

Declared Value Surcharge

The surcharge to apply if the declared value is greater than $50,000.

Residential Surcharge

The surcharge that applies to each shipment to a Residential Address.

Carbon Neutral Charges

UPS uses this type of additional charge to purchase certified carbon offsets that counterbalance the emissions produced by the transportation of shipments. Use the following fields to enter the amount for this charge for each service class or accept the default values.
